Why all students today should take the EPQ
UK universities consider applicants' overall profiles, not just their A Level grades
•
One of the few official ways for students
to improve their application profiles
•
Only official way for universities to lower
their A Level admissions requirement
•
International students even more need
to demonstrate their abilities beyond
test scores, and that they can conduct independent research

What is the EPQ?
EPQ is a research qualification awarding
UCAS points worth half an A Level.
Students complete a research paper or
create an original work, such as a
design, artwork, computer or robotics
programme, etc. All UK universities look
favourably upon an EPQ and many
lower their A Level requirements for
students with an EPQ.

Our UK-based Oxbridge EPQ teaching
team has a proven track record
helping students achieve high EPQ
grades
•
Our EPQ Coordinator has guided
over 95% of her students to achieving
A* or A
•
All our students are mentored
one-on-one by Oxbridge tutors, with
specific expertise in the project
subject

What is the FPQ/HPQ?
The FPQ and HPQ are part of the Project
Qualification series and stepping stones
to the well-known Extended Project
Qualification (EPQ). Students can
explore a topic of their interest and
experience the research process – all
while receiving an easier, GCSE-level
qualification.

What are the features of these Project Qualifications?
FPQ | Level 1
•
Project topics and readings provided to students
•
500 to 1,500-word essays
•
Grades range from A* to B
HPQ | Level 2 GCSE
•
Students pick their own project topics
• 750 to 2,500-word essays
• Grades range from A* to C

Why should students seek the FPQ/HPQ?
•
Easier and quicker research experience, designed
for earlier stage students
• Receive a recognised qualification for simply a
guided project, not an exam
• Effective preparation for the A Level EPQ or IB
extended essay
• Important for Chinese students to demonstrate
their ability to explore academic interests and
engage in independent research work
•
Universities also consider GCSE-level qualifications
and look favourably at research projects
